Forest fire in Milas, Muğla brought under control: 60 hectares damaged

A forest fire broke out in the Milas district of Muğla.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, who was in the fire zone, received information about the latest situation regarding the fire from the Head of the Metropolitan Fire Department, Mehmet Karyağdı. Mayor Aras stated that they stand with the citizens who suffered damage due to the fire.

Aras spoke as follows:

"The fire that started in Sekköy spread to our Çakıralan neighborhood due to the wind. The fire shifted from forest and olive grove areas to residential areas. Intervention in the fire continues from the ground and with night-vision helicopters. We are trying to protect our village.

Our friends are fighting to prevent loss of life and property. Currently, the fire has been brought under control to a certain extent; our Governor is here, leading and overseeing the situation. It is a very painful fire; unfortunately, there is a great loss in the region. We will heal the wounds and stand by our citizens."

FIRE UNDER CONTROL, COOLING WORKS HAVE BEGUN

Two night-vision firefighting helicopters, numerous water tenders, forest workers, fire brigades, and heavy machinery intervened in the fire that started yesterday in the forest area in the Sekköy locality and continued throughout the night.

In the fire, which was brought under control in the morning hours, ground teams began cooling operations.

60 HECTARES OF LAND DAMAGED

It was learned that the gardens of some houses and two barns were damaged in the fire zone. According to initial assessments, approximately 60 hectares of forest and olive grove land were damaged in the fire.

On the other hand, the burned areas were filmed by drone.

The footage shows the destruction caused by the fire over a wide area.

Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık had also reported that the Çakıralan neighborhood, which has a population of 350 and 60 households, was evacuated.
