Forest worker İbrahim Demir has been martyred while fighting a forest fire that broke out in Ödemiş, İzmir.
Announcing the sad news on his social media account, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated the following:
"Our forest worker İbrahim Demir has been martyred while fighting to protect our green homeland in the fire in Ödemiş, İzmir.
I pray for God's mercy upon our brother who defended the Green Homeland at the cost of his life, and I wish patience for his family and loved ones.
My condolences to our forestry community and our nation.
I also wish a speedy recovery to our brother, driver Ragıp Şahin, who was injured in the same fire zone."
