Formal notice from Özcan Deniz to Sarıyer Municipality: New details in unauthorized construction investigation
Özcan Deniz, who is under investigation for unauthorized additions to his three villas in Sarıyer, has sent formal notices to both the municipality and his brother's company, which carried out the construction. The famous artist has launched a legal battle, arguing that he is not responsible for the situation.
New details have emerged in the "unauthorized construction" investigation launched regarding three villas owned by famous singer and actor Özcan Deniz, located in a protected area in Istanbul's Sarıyer district. Deniz, who is at the center of the investigation, defended himself against the allegations and announced that he had sent formal notices to both his brother's company, Deniz Filmcilik, which undertook the construction, and the Sarıyer Municipality.
"I WAS UNAWARE OF THE CONSTRUCTION"
An investigation was launched against Özcan Deniz on charges of "Causing Zoning Pollution" and "Violation of the Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Property" due to unauthorized construction at the three villas in Sarıyer. In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Deniz argued that he was unaware of the construction activities and stated that he only became aware of the issue through a report prepared by the municipality. Emphasizing that he had made attempts to bring the property into compliance with the building permit, Deniz claimed that he was a victim because he did not receive a response from the municipality.
According to a report by the Sabah newspaper, details of the formal notice Özcan Deniz sent to Deniz Filmcilik, a company owned by his brother Ercan Deniz, have emerged. The document states that the construction carried out was unlicensed and contrary to procedure, and for this reason, it was sealed by the municipality. In the text of the notice, Özcan Deniz stated that he demanded the company bring the structure in question into compliance with the permit, and that otherwise, all damages and legal liabilities arising from the situation must be covered by the company.
In a second formal notice sent to the Sarıyer Municipality, Deniz stated that he does not own the villas but only holds the usufruct (usage) rights. Arguing that he was victimized by Deniz Filmcilik during the construction process, the artist also noted that he had filed a lawsuit against the company in civil court for this reason.
REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION FOR PERMIT
The notice also explained that because he is not the property owner, he could not access documents such as the zoning status and architectural project that need to be submitted to the municipality. Deniz requested that the municipality grant the necessary permissions to allow for a project change or the issuance of a new permit so that the existing irregularities can be resolved.
