Former AKP district head arrested on drug charges
It has emerged that Kürşat Kılıç, the former AKP Yozgat Central District head who made headlines two years ago with footage showing him using cocaine, was arrested following the nationwide “Narkoçelik-15” operation conducted across 52 provinces.
The General Directorate of Security (EGM) reported that 10 out of 13 suspects detained in Yozgat during the “Narkoçelik-15” operation, which was coordinated by the Anti-Narcotics Department and carried out across 52 provinces on May 7, have been arrested. It was determined that former AKP Yozgat Central District head Kürşat Kılıç was among those arrested.
According to a report in Birgün, Kürşat Kılıç was referred to the courthouse, appeared before a judge, and was subsequently sent to prison.
AKP Yozgat Central District head Kürşat Kılıç had announced his resignation from his post in a post on his social media account on December 9, 2021. It was alleged that a video was behind his resignation. In the video, the person alleged to be Kürşat Kılıç was seen passed out after using drugs in his office.
A narcotic substance in a blue bag and a precision scale in the desk drawer in his office were also captured on camera.
Following his resignation, Kılıç claimed in his defense that he had been drugged, stating, "It is known to everyone who knows me that it is impossible for me to use such a substance."
