Former AKP minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya resigns from her post

AKP Deputy Chairperson and former Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya has resigned following allegations made against her.

AKP Deputy Chairperson and former Minister of Family and Social Services Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya announced that she has resigned from her positions within the AKP.

It had been alleged that Kaya purchased 250 thousand shares at a price level of 255 liras on April 8 and sold the shares in question at a level of approximately 4 thousand 482 liras in September.

In her resignation statement made on her social media account, Kaya used the following expressions:

Regarding an issue that has occurred in recent days and occupied the public agenda, a series of allegations and assessments have been brought up concerning myself today.

Our President and Chairman, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, expressed with the clear and determined will he demonstrated regarding the issue in question in recent days that the allegations must be investigated in all their aspects, whoever it may be, and that the process must be carried out meticulously.

As a requirement of this approach, I also attach great importance to the clarification of the allegations raised in a way that leaves no room for hesitation and to the completion of the process to be carried out in a healthy and sound manner.

I believe that the responsibility we carry in politics is not limited only to legal responsibility. The duty we have undertaken towards our nation also requires taking political and conscientious responsibility when necessary.

For this reason, I deem it necessary to take political responsibility so that the position I hold is not subject to any debate during a process in which the allegations concerning me will be clarified; and so that the investigation and inquiry to be carried out can be conducted independently and healthily, without remaining under any shadow.

With this understanding, I have requested my release from all the duties I am currently performing from our esteemed Chairman for the sake of the integrity of the process and the clarification of the allegations in all their aspects.
