In Bursa, former Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor Namık Yılmaz, who had a finalized 7.5-year prison sentence for being a member of the FETÖ/PDY (Fetullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure) terrorist organization, was arrested during an operation.
Namık Yılmaz, who was tried and dismissed from his profession on charges of "membership in an armed criminal organization" by the Antalya 9th High Criminal Court on July 31, 2019, had been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison on the grounds that he was part of the hierarchical structure of FETÖ/PDY.
ARRESTED IN AN OPERATION
The Bursa Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branch teams took action after Yılmaz's sentence was finalized.
As a result of technical and physical surveillance, it was determined that Yılmaz was in the Nilüfer district. In an operation carried out this morning with instructions from the Public Prosecutor's Office, Yılmaz was taken into custody at the address where he was staying.
Former Chief Prosecutor Namık Yılmaz was delivered to the Bursa H-Type Closed Penal Execution Institution after the completion of police and prosecutorial procedures.
