Declaration from former CHP Chairs on 'Kılıçdaroğlu and the party congress': We must stand firmly with Özel

As the tension created by the investigation into the CHP party congress continues with mutual statements, it is observed that the parties are taking a stance in favor of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Most recently, three former chairmen of the CHP also underlined in a statement that everyone should stand with Özgür Özel.

The statement issued by the three former chairmen included the following expressions:

Attempts are being made to obstruct our party's march toward power, which began with the municipal elections on March 31, 2024, through various judicial and administrative schemes. Our party became the leading party in the last elections held.

Recent public opinion polls also show that our party can reach the highest vote share it has ever received in the multi-party regime. At a time when our party has captured such great social support, creating the impression that there is a major problem within the party would be a great disservice to our party. Remembering what the danger of our party's division in previous years has cost Turkey, we must overcome these obstacles.

The lessons our recent history has taught us have shown that this is not just a party duty, but also a patriotic duty. The CHP Congress took place in front of millions. Upon the continuation of artificial debates, the same delegates came to Ankara once again and gave even stronger support to our Chairman Özgür Özel and his administration at the extraordinary congress held.

Despite this, many political and administrative measures can be proposed against the ongoing artificial debates. However, in our opinion, the fundamental solution is for our former Chairman, our administrators, regardless of their position, seniority, and internal party management preferences, to adopt a stance that rejects all possibilities that would result in the regulation of our party through judicial design and to stand firmly with our Chairman Özgür Özel. We believe that this will be one of the most beautiful photographs in our party's history.

What is at stake is the happiness of our people and the CHP government that will ensure this; the remaining artificial debates are mere details. Long live the Republic, Long live the Republican People's Party!
