Former CHP provincial chairmanship candidate found dead at home
Mechanical engineer Uğraş Çiftçi, who was a candidate for the CHP Kocaeli Provincial Chairmanship last year, was found dead, hanging by a rope in his home. Authorities are investigating the possibility of suicide.
Uğraş Çiftçi (49), who resided in the Arızlı neighborhood of İzmit, Kocaeli, was found hanging by a rope in his home.
Following a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center, health and police teams were dispatched to the address.
Upon arrival, the medical teams determined that Çiftçi had lost his life.
Çiftçi's body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy following the investigation at the scene.
Police teams conducted an examination of the house. Authorities are focusing on the possibility that Çiftçi died by suicide.
Mechanical engineer Uğraş Çiftçi had been a candidate for the CHP Kocaeli Provincial Chairmanship at the ordinary provincial congress held on September 30, 2023, but did not win the election. It was reported that Çiftçi was married and a father of two.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
