Former Döşemealtı Mayor Turgay Genç arrested

An operation was conducted by teams from the Antalya Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch, under the coordination of the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, as part of an investigation into "rigging bids, rigging the performance of obligations, and forgery of official documents."

Within the scope of the investigation, the hot asphalt and sidewalk tender carried out by the Döşemealtı Municipality was placed under scrutiny. Examinations revealed that public losses were incurred through incomplete manufacturing, the issuance of duplicate progress payments for the same work, and the use of fake scale slips. According to calculations, it was alleged that a public loss of 66 million 569 thousand 626 TL occurred as of the progress payment date in the first tender, and 55 million 841 thousand 50 TL in the second tender. It was claimed that the loss amount in the second tender reached 125 million 392 thousand 116 TL with updated figures.

Detention warrants for 22 suspects

An operation was launched targeting former Döşemealtı Mayor Turgay Genç, who was alleged to be responsible for the public loss, and individuals determined to have acted in collusion with him. In this context, detention warrants were issued for a total of 22 suspects, including Genç, 2 deputy mayors, 8 municipal staff members, 6 contractor employees, and 5 municipal council members.

It was learned that 1 of the suspects is currently in prison, 2 are abroad, and 1 is a fugitive. The 18 detained suspects were referred to the Antalya Courthouse.

5 people referred with a request for arrest

Following their statements at the prosecutor's office, 13 suspects were released, while Turgay Genç and 4 other suspects were referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for arrest. The court panel decided to arrest 2 suspects, including former Döşemealtı Mayor Turgay Genç, while the other suspects were released under judicial control conditions.
