Former Gendarmerie General Commander General Galip Mendi has passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Former Gendarmerie General Commander General Galip Mendi has passed away at the age of 73.
It was reported that Mendi, who was receiving treatment in İzmir, passed away today at around 11:30.
While the funeral arrangements have not yet been determined, Mendi will be laid to rest in Ankara in accordance with his will.
Galip Mendi, who passed away at the age of 73, was promoted to the rank of General in 2012.
Following his service as Commander of the 2nd Army and Commander of the Aegean Army, he was appointed as the Gendarmerie General Commander on August 5, 2015.
General Galip Mendi was a recipient of the Turkish Armed Forces Medal of Distinguished Courage and Self-Sacrifice, the Turkish Armed Forces Medal of Achievement, and the Turkish Armed Forces Medal of Distinguished Service.
