Former Health Minister Müezzinoğlu makes statement regarding his hospital, Avcılar Hospital

Former Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu stated that the deaths of the babies were being monitored by the Prosecutor's Office, saying, “One baby died. Why are you waiting for the second baby to die? These baby deaths occurred within 5 months. Well, as the state, are you not obligated to ensure the safety of these babies? By waiting, don't you also become a murderer?”

Müezzinoğlu's hospital in Avcılar, Private Avcılar Hospital, was among the hospitals whose licenses were revoked. In his first statement after the scandal broke, Müezzinoğlu had declared that his conscience was clear. Today, Müezzinoğlu met with the employees at his hospital where the scandal took place.

"WE ARE CONSCIENTIOUSLY AND PHYSICALLY STRONG"

In a report by Seyhan Avşar from GerçekGündem, Müezzinoğlu told the hospital staff, “A process developed and unfolded in such a way that we are currently facing a situation that neither the institution nor any of our friends inside deserve. Despite all this, we are conscientiously and physically strong. The tide will turn one day. But we will emerge from this with our heads held high. There are heavy burdens placed on us by the process. Patient admissions have been stopped. Our licenses have been revoked or seized. We will fulfill all the dynamics required by law, starting with the stay of execution.”

"MY PESSIMISM IS INCREASING"

In his speech, Müezzinoğlu said, “I don't want to say we are error-free,” adding, “But in matters concerning humans… There may be incomplete or faulty mistakes. I am at peace with the fact that this institution or any of our friends would not commit a planned wrong. But when I look at the process that has taken place, there are things that disturb me on behalf of the health of the Turkish people in this country. My pessimism is increasing. I am demoralized on behalf of the country's health because it is difficult to be a physician now. The doctor is now more of a doctor than the baby's mother or the father of a baby lying in intensive care. They pass judgment early. Unfortunately, our media, our administrators, and our legal or administrative systems, which should be of sound mind, are fueling this,” he said.

‘WHY DID YOU WATCH THE DEATHS?’

Müezzinoğlu stated that babies were dying right before everyone's eyes during the process of dismantling the gang, saying, “The gang or the murderer that caused the death of 10 babies is the murderer of 10 babies. Now look, there is a very clear question at hand. For individuals or structures that have been placed under surveillance, well friend, if we consider the first baby's death as murder, why are you waiting for the second baby's death?

These baby deaths occurred within 5 months. The first one happened. They say ‘pull the plug.’ ‘Let it die if it dies,’ they say. Well, as the state, are you not obligated to ensure safety and life security? Even assuming there is intent. Why are you waiting for the second, the third of something that has intent?
