Warning on Dilan Polat from former MASAK deputy head: They could save their wealth if measures are not taken

Former MASAK Deputy Head Dr. Ramazan Başak has issued striking warnings regarding Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, a couple frequently in the spotlight for their luxurious lifestyle and whose assets were seized following allegations against them.

Appearing as a guest of journalist İpek Özbey on Sözcü TV, Başak explained the process that will unfold for the Polat couple, who are under investigation, and what could happen if measures are not taken:

“The 16 companies belonging to the Polat family and their relatives have a common feature. They are managed from a single source. They are mostly operated under the dominance and influence of Engin Polat and Dilan Polat. The companies described as suppliers also lack the capacity to carry out real purchases of goods.

Engin Polat's company, Milda Gayrimenkul Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret, was established in 2022 with a capital of 1 million lira, and with a capital increase in 2023, it added 199 million more, bringing the capital to 200 million lira. This is a very large increase. This was met from the accounts of debts to partners.

There are 3 companies whose partnership structures have been changed. These three companies are supplier companies. These are companies with 1 million, 200 thousand, and 50 thousand in capital. These companies have 2 Uzbek and one Iranian partner and are currently in liquidation.

MASAK has likely prepared a report regarding money laundering through tax inspectors. There is no authority other than the court and the prosecutor's office that can overturn this.

“It is said that the prosecutor's office has seized the assets and imposed a travel ban. If MASAK believes there are serious indications regarding money laundering and the financing of terrorism, it can request the postponement of transactions. In my opinion, before the seizure decision, MASAK likely activated a mechanism such as the postponement of these transactions, that is, temporary seizure. Otherwise, this is a matter that has been discussed for about a month; if you do not take such a measure, the person, if acting in bad faith, could also spirit away the money.”
