Former Minister Müslüm Doğan, who joined CHP, publishes prison statistics: '350 thousand people are in jail, a general amnesty is essential'

Müslüm Doğan, a 25th and 26th term HDP İzmir MP and former Minister of Development who recently joined the CHP, had previously called for a "General Amnesty" with the prison statistics he shared.

Most recently, Doğan stated on X, "During the commission's deliberations on the 9th Judicial Package, #KHKs (statutory decrees) must be brought to the agenda and solutions must be produced. Social trauma and its consequences must be eliminated," tagging the 5 parties with groups in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

In a post on July 3, Doğan quoted his own post regarding the 350 thousand people in prison, saying, "We must eliminate the grounds for committing crimes..."

On May 28, Doğan had stated, "We want a 'General Amnesty' without discrimination! However, we exclude crimes against humanity, rape, femicide, and in short, crimes that would not wound the social conscience. The decision rests with the TBMM." On May 29, he shared, "KHKs should be canceled, independent commissions should be established, a General Amnesty should be declared, tax cuts should be implemented, the minimum wage should be redetermined, the lowest pension should be at least equal to the minimum wage, and transportation, electricity, and water should be 50% discounted for retirees."

Doğan also stated that there are 3 thousand 214 children in prisons.
