Former Minister Varank had announced it: It turns out the company that declared concordat received incentives 3 times

Mega Polietilen Köpük Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş filed for a concordat on Friday to prevent the disruption of its production activities due to foreclosure proceedings to be initiated by creditors. The court made the decision following this application. During the concordat period, the company will conduct negotiations with banks and creditors for the restructuring of its debts.

SHARES SUSPENDED FROM TRADING

It was also announced that the company's Borsa Istanbul shares were temporarily suspended from trading and that a detailed statement would be made later.

Mega Polietilen shares hit a historical peak of 10.84 liras on May 9. The share sale application made by the company's Chairman of the Board, Eda Özhan, to the CMB (Capital Markets Board) on May 16 was rejected. The stock, which began to decline, lost 38 percent of its value between August 2 and August 19, falling to 4.67 liras.

RECEIVED INCENTIVES 3 TIMES

It has emerged that the BIST company MEGAP, which declared a concordat yesterday, received support from the state with 3 incentive certificates during Mustafa Varank's tenure as minister.

'WE DO NOT SEE INCENTIVES AS A COST'

The Minister of Industry of the time, Mustafa Varank, who inaugurated the facility, had made the following statements at the opening:

"I truly congratulate them for these brave investments, which are a sign of trust in our country. As we always say, we stand by everyone who adds value to this country; we are their supporters. We supported all the investments made here by the Mega Polietilen company within the scope of incentives. We continue to support them. Currently, our firm has 3 separate incentive certificates received from our ministry. We provide them with significant advantages with these certificates, but rest assured, we never see these incentives as a cost. Investments like this, not just Mega Polietilen but all investments realized with the incentive certificates we provide here, deserve the support we give to the fullest when the employment they provide and the exports they make are taken into account. We say, may it be well-earned. We must also say this. While giving our incentives, we never look at the mentality of our firms. We do not subject them to an examination. Except for project-based incentives, I do not even see any incentive until it is published in the Official Gazette. The processes work automatically."

IT WAS REVEALED THAT WORKERS' WAGES WERE NOT PAID

In the Mega Polietilen Factory, which operates in Besni, Adıyaman, and employs 350 workers, the laborers had decided to go on strike on April 8 because they had not received their salaries for 2 months. 

While the workers demanding their unpaid wages were struggling against all kinds of threats from the employer, BİRTEK-SEN stated in a post on its X account that the Mega Polietilen Factory used illegal electricity and natural gas, paid workers in cash, and employed uninsured workers.

ALLEGATION THAT THE TENT WAS BURNED

In another post, BİRTEK-SEN alleged that the tents of the workers demanding their wages were set on fire and that Boss Serkan Özhan shouted instructions to the individuals attacking the workers, saying, "Shoot whoever you catch!"
