Former minister Yılmaz Karakoyunlu has passed away in the hospital where he was taken after falling ill at his home in Istanbul, despite all interventions.
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca announced that former minister Yılmaz Karakoyunlu has passed away in the hospital where he was taken after falling ill at his home in Istanbul, despite all interventions.
In a post on his social media account, Koca stated the following:
"Former state minister Yılmaz Karakoyunlu has passed away in the hospital where he was taken after falling ill at his home in Istanbul, despite all interventions. I wish him God's mercy and extend my condolences to his family, loved ones, and friends. May he rest in peace."

WHO IS YILMAZ KARAKOYUNLU?
Born in Istanbul on April 26, 1936, Yılmaz Karakoyunlu graduated from Diyarbakır Ziya Gökalp High School in 1955 and the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1959, before receiving his doctorate from Istanbul University. Serving as a Member of Parliament for Istanbul during the 20th and 21st terms, Karakoyunlu also held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Motherland Party (ANAP) during this period.
In the 2001 Bülent Ecevit cabinet, he served as Minister of State and government spokesperson, with responsibilities for TRT, Anadolu Agency, the Directorate General of Press and Information, and the Privatization Administration. Yılmaz Karakoyunlu was married and a father of two.
