İsmet Sayhan, the former Chairman of the Board of the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE), has been detained on charges of membership in a criminal organization and espionage.
Former Chairman of the Board of the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE), lawyer İsmet Sayhan, has been detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Sayhan faces charges of 'membership in a criminal organization' and 'espionage.' This development follows a criminal complaint filed by MKE.
Following searches conducted at Sayhan's home and law office, he was taken to the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch for questioning.
THE WHATSAPP POST INCIDENT
In the past, Sayhan, who was familiar with MKE's processes, had begun working as a lawyer at ASSAN, a company banned from public tenders. Sayhan had accidentally shared a screenshot of a correspondence he had with the Chairman of the Board of ASSAN on his WhatsApp status, but deleted it shortly after realizing the mistake. This incident had brought Sayhan back into the spotlight.
