Former Red Crescent President's daughter hits motorcycle, teenager loses life

In Beykoz, Istanbul, a car and a motorcycle collided head-on. One of the two teenagers on the motorcycle lost his life in the accident.

The person driving the car turned out to be Fatma Zehra Kınık, the daughter of former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, who previously made headlines for selling tents following the February 6 earthquakes.

The accident occurred on July 9 on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street in Kavacık neighborhood.

According to the information obtained, the motorcycle driven by Y.S.Ö. (17) collided with a car exiting a side street. During the accident, the motorcycle overturned and skidded, causing 16-year-old Batın Barlas Çeki, who was sitting on the back of the motorcycle, to hit his head on a concrete bollard.

Two people on the sidewalk were also injured when they were struck by the skidding motorcycle.

Çeki, who was rushed to the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions, while the motorcycle driver and the 2 other people injured in the accident were taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

It was learned that the health condition of the injured is good.

Fatma Zehra Kınık, the daughter of former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, who was taken into custody by Beykoz District Police Department teams after the accident and referred to the courthouse, was released pending trial.

STATEMENT FROM MINISTER TUNÇ

When asked about the death of a 16-year-old child as a result of the accident caused by the daughter of former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, Minister Tunç replied, "I do not have any information on this matter yet. If there is an error in the content of the file, it will certainly be corrected through the appeal process. In other words, it would not be appropriate for us to comment on the decision the judiciary will make regarding the file. If there is an erroneous procedure, it is a situation that can be corrected through the appeal process."
