Former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, whose son Mustafa Türkay Sonel was also among those detained, stated, “My son does not know Gülistan Doku, nor does he know her boyfriend. My son was a high school student at that time; how could he have any connection to this incident?"
Former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, whose son was also detained in the Gülistan Doku investigation that was reopened after 6 years, spoke to journalist Sinan Burhan regarding the matter.
Sonel said, "My son does not know Gülistan Doku, nor does he know her boyfriend.
My son was a high school student at that time; how could he have any connection to this incident?
I do not know her either. I helped her family. The incident needs to be clarified.
These allegations made against me are completely slanderous.
I will fight this to the end and exercise my legal rights.”
