Fraud targeting taxi drivers via 'IBAN' scam

Teams from the Kırşehir Police Department's Community-Supported Policing Bureau have been conducting intensive work following a recent rise in fraud cases.

As a result of technical surveillance and intelligence efforts, a suspect identified as M.A., who was involved in fraud incidents targeting taxi drivers, was identified.

It was determined that the suspect committed fraud by sending messages to taxi drivers saying, "send me your IBAN and I will send your money." It was learned that the individual, who defrauded the same taxi driver twice, gained the drivers' trust to facilitate money transfers and subsequently seized these funds.

POLICE TEAMS MADE THE ARREST

Police teams were successful in an operation organized to apprehend the suspect. The individual was taken into custody as a result of the operation and referred to judicial authorities. Officials from the Kırşehir Police Department warned taxi drivers to be cautious against such fraud methods.

Furthermore, it was stated that police teams should be notified immediately if any suspicious situation is encountered. Taxi drivers in the city reported that some drivers had been defrauded using the same method and that this individual had been caught by police teams.

Teams from the Community-Supported Policing Bureau informed taxi drivers in the city and warned them to be vigilant.
