'Freedom for Öcalan' march in Diyarbakır

The march, which was attended by DEM Party Mardin MP Beritan Güneş, Diyarbakır MPs Serhat Eren, Adalet Kaya, and Mehmet Kamaç, as well as a large number of people, and which aimed to hang a poster of Öcalan on the Ben u Sen bastion in the Sur district, began at the Ali Pınar Bridge in the central Yenişehir district. The group, which walked for 2 kilometers accompanied by fireworks, was stopped by police who closed the Urfa Gate area leading to the Ben u Sen bastion to traffic.

Addressing the participants, the police warned that the march should end there and that they should make their statements and disperse. The group, however, stated that they would march to the Ben u Sen bastion to make a statement.

Tension arose between the police and the marching group. Following the tension, the police used tear gas to disperse the group. DEM Party MP Adalet Kaya, who intervened to end the tension, was affected by the tear gas.
