Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen made assessments regarding the rainfall expected in the western parts of Turkey.
Making a statement on his social media account, Şen stated that rainfall will be effective in the Marmara Region on Friday, pointing specifically to Friday evening for Istanbul.
According to Şen, the rainfall will start in Thrace, spread to the Marmara region, and also affect Istanbul.
Stating that the rainfall will be short-lived, Şen said that it would not be a "light" rain, but it is also not expected to be extreme.
In his warning for Istanbul, Şen used the phrase, "Let's be careful in Istanbul on Friday evening in general."
Drawing attention to the Southern Aegean and the Mediterranean for next week, Şen stated that strong and, in some places, extreme rainfall could be seen in these regions. He emphasized that citizens should be cautious against the risk of flooding around Antalya, Fethiye, Finike, Marmaris, and Bodrum.
POINTED TO THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER
Şen stated that towards the end of the week, strong rainfall could return to the agenda in the western parts of Turkey, including Istanbul and Marmara. Pointing to the first week of November, Şen conveyed that new information would be provided regarding developments when the time comes.
In his statement, Şen also touched upon the "pastırma summer" (Indian summer), stating that this period does not only mean high temperatures as is commonly thought.
Şen said that during the Indian summer, the temperature difference between night and day can reach approximately 20 degrees, and therefore, night temperatures are also expected to drop.
Stating that there is a possibility that the Indian summer could be seen in the second week of November this year, Şen noted that the fact that daytime temperatures have not yet been very high has been influential in this forecast.
