Geophysicist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan made a statement following the tremors. Warning the 11 provinces affected by the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, Ercan pointed out that aftershocks, which could reach up to 6.3 in magnitude, will last for 2 to 3 years.

Structures that have experienced earthquakes are fatigued. Steel structures should be built."
