Frightening warning from earthquake expert: 'The worst-case scenario...'

Earthquake and geology expert Prof. Dr. Osman Bektaş, regarding the earthquakes experienced in the Marmara region and a potential major earthquake in Istanbul, made alarming statements. In Istanbul, recent dFollowing the recent increase in seismic activity,Bektaş stated that while an earthquake of magnitude 7or greaterisnot expected in the city,he added,"Preparationsshould be based on the worstprepare according to the worst-case scenarioshould be done," he warned.

The Sea of Marmara was shaken once again on October 3rd by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5.I. Before that, on October 2, the sameregion experienced a magnitude 5 tremor.
