Eşref Kemal Saral was wounded in an armed attack that took place in the Of district of Trabzon on October 15. It was stated that Saral was wounded by 5 bullets that struck his body during an armed altercation that broke out for reasons yet unknown.
Following the incident, Eşref Kemal Saral was taken to Of State Hospital by vehicle. While a wide-ranging investigation into the attack has been launched, it was reported that the act was claimed by Yakup Kerem Saral of the Sarallar family.
In a post on his Instagram account, Yakup Kerem Saral targeted Eşref Kemal Saral. In the post, which also contained insulting language, Saral claimed he carried out the attack on the grounds of “protecting the reputation and dignity of the Saral family.”
In the post, it was stated that the attack was a “warning,” and the phrases “I want him to know that the second one will be much more severe, and he should watch his step accordingly” were used. Saral also shared a message directed at the Trabzon Police Department.
While Yakup Kerem Saral is among the names stated to be linked to the organized crime group known publicly as the Sarallar, he has been a fugitive abroad for a long time and is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice.
Saral’s name had previously come to the fore with allegations of preparing an assassination attempt against another crime organization leader, Sedat Şahin. Within the scope of that investigation, 19 suspects were detained, and all of the suspects were arrested following prosecution procedures.
