Full support from the US to Israel: We will work for regional stability

It has been reported that US President Joe Biden is "closely monitoring" the situation in Israel and Lebanon and has been "in contact with his national security team throughout the evening."

White House National Security Council Spokesperson Sean Savett made a statement regarding the matter.

Stating that Biden is "closely monitoring" the situation in Israel and Lebanon and has been "in contact with his national security team throughout the evening," Savett noted that, upon the President's instructions, senior US officials are continuing their discussions with their Israeli counterparts.

The Israeli military had announced early in the morning that it had launched a "preemptive strike" against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Hezbollah, for its part, announced that it had launched a retaliatory attack in response to the assassination of its senior commander Fuad Shukr in Lebanon on July 30.
