A new decision was issued regarding 5 of the individuals whose assets and financial transactions were frozen as part of the 'fund investigation' by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the freeze was lifted following the collection of statements and evidence.
Among those individuals was Mustafa Yazıcı, the son of AKP Deputy Chairman for Political and Legal Affairs Hayati Yazıcı.
Following the developments, AKP's Hayati Yazıcı broke his silence and shared a statement on his social media account.
Stating that he had no 'doubts' about his son, Yazıcı wrote, "I want it to be known that we will not allow those who are attempting to smear our AK Party to succeed."
Yazıcı's statement is as follows:
"Equity, law, justice, and the distinction between lawful and unlawful have always been my unchanging measures, which I have accepted as fundamental principles since the day I became a discerning adult.
These are the most important values I acquired from my late parents and all the teachers I learned from during my education.
I have had no actions or transactions for which I cannot be held accountable in terms of the perceived and known meanings of these concepts.
The law will proceed in its own course without being subject to any influence or interference. I have full faith that the truth will emerge in all its clarity.
However, I would like to express a few points: The authority to make decisions in judicial activities is the impartial and independent judiciary.
Our fundamental goal is for the allegations to be investigated in all their aspects and for the savings of our citizens to be protected.
Social media elements should not attempt to construct verdicts.
I have not the slightest doubt regarding the legality and morality of my son's commercial actions and transactions.
I have not the slightest reservation about the truth coming to light, but I will never, ever allow an assassination of character.
I want it to be known that we will not allow those who are attempting to smear our AK Party—which I have been a founder of since its preparatory phase—by using this investigation as a pretext to succeed.
The foundation of our understanding of politics is the responsibility we bear toward our nation and the values we represent. Just as we did yesterday, we continue on our path today with our heads held high and with the same determination."
