Funeral ceremony held at Parliament for Yüksel Çengel
A funeral ceremony was held at the Parliament for the late 18th Term Istanbul Deputy and TBMM Administrative Officer Yüksel Çengel.
The ceremony, held in front of the Parliament's Ceremonial Gate, was attended by Çengel's family and relatives, as well as MHP Gaziantep Deputy and TBMM Administrative Officer Sermet Atay and other politicians.
During the ceremony, after the reading of Çengel's biography, a moment of silence was observed and prayers were recited. Those attending the ceremony offered their condolences to Çengel's family and relatives.
Çengel's body was later sent to Istanbul to be laid to rest. His funeral will be held tomorrow at the Ataköy 5th Section Mosque following the noon prayer, after which he will be buried at the Mevlana Kapı Merkez Efendi Cemetery.

Born in Istanbul in 1938, Çengel graduated from the Istanbul Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. Having served as the Mayor of Avcılar, Istanbul, between 1977 and 1980, Çengel entered Parliament as an 18th Term CHP Istanbul Deputy and served as a TBMM Administrative Officer.
Çengel was married and a father of two.
