Funeral held for Tuğba Sert, who lost her life in the ammunition factory explosion in Balıkesir

Tuğba Sert’s nieces and mother were overcome with grief at her coffin. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, who attended the funeral, consoled the grieving family.

Tuğba Sert, who lived in the Osmanlar neighborhood of Balıkesir’s İvrindi district, worked at an ammunition factory in the Karesi district. An explosion occurred on Tuesday, December 24, in the section where capsules were produced. Tuğba Sert, one of the 11 people who lost their lives due to the explosion, was handed over to her family after identification procedures at the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute.

Her funeral was brought to her hometown of Osmanlar neighborhood in the İvrindi district of Balıkesir. Sert’s relatives and loved ones were overcome with grief at the funeral service held in the Osmanlar square. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu, MHP Deputy Ekrem Gökay Yüksel, and AK Party Deputies Mustafa Canbey and İsmail Ok also attended Sert’s funeral.

While Tuğba Sert’s nieces wept as they hugged her coffin, her mother could not hold back her tears. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu consoled the grieving family. Sert’s body was laid to rest following the funeral prayer performed after the noon prayer.

On December 24, 11 people lost their lives and 7 were injured due to an explosion and collapse that occurred in the capsule production section of an ammunition factory in the central Karesi district of Balıkesir. The funerals of 10 of those who lost their lives were held yesterday. Within the scope of the investigation carried out following the incident, 10 people were detained.
