500,000 dollar bribery scandal in Lvbel C5's release!
It has emerged that a 500,000 dollar bribe was demanded for the release of rapper Lvbel C5, who was arrested on May 6 on charges of "encouraging the use of narcotic substances."
The operation carried out following the arrest of Süleyman Burak Bodur, known by his stage name Lvbel C5, has brought a striking scandal in the judicial system to light. According to a report by Timur Soykan from Birgün, 500,000 dollars was demanded from the young rapper's family in exchange for his release. Following this demand, the incident was reported to judicial authorities, and striking details about the process emerged.
LAWYER CAUGHT RED-HANDED
Upon the notification of the situation by Lvbel C5's relatives, lawyer E.A., who was alleged to have mediated the bribery traffic, was caught red-handed and arrested in an operation carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office. Judge O.Y., another key figure in the bribery attempt and the person who reportedly decided on the artist's arrest, has been suspended by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK).
ARREST AND AFTERMATH
The 24-year-old artist was detained on May 6 on the grounds of "encouraging the use of narcotic substances," then referred to the Gebze Courthouse, arrested, and sent to Kandıra Prison. Having spent approximately 3 weeks in prison, Bodur was released after 23 days. However, the events that took place during this process drew significant public reaction after they were reported.
NEGOTIATIONS AND ALLEGATIONS
Following the decision to arrest Bodur, his family and producer met at the Gebze Courthouse. The parties, who met with Judge O.Y., who issued the court decision, requested his release by pointing to the artist's busy concert schedule and stating that many people tried for similar charges had been released. Following these meetings, it is alleged that Judge O.Y. requested that contact be established with lawyer E.A.
BRIBERY BARGAINING: FROM 500 THOUSAND TO 100 THOUSAND
In a meeting that took place in Ümraniye, lawyer E.A. demanded 500,000 dollars from the artist's family for his release. Introducing himself with the words "I work with the judge," E.A. emphasized that this money had to be paid. However, this offer was rejected by the family. Subsequently, the bribe amount was first reduced to 300,000 dollars. Upon the family's negative response to this offer as well, E.A. stated, "Your client is a very wealthy person. The watches he wears and the cars he drives are very luxurious. If you don't pay this amount, he will stay inside for at least 6 months."
As the demands continued, the family was told that the bribe amount had been reduced to 100,000 dollars. An agreement was reached on the condition that 50,000 dollars of this amount would be paid in advance and the remainder after the release.
THEY WENT TO THE MINISTRY, A TRAP WAS SET
The artist's family shared the situation with their business associates and applied to the Ministry of Justice. Meeting with ministry officials on May 7, the family explained the bribery demand in detail. Upon this information, the Izmit Chief Public Prosecutor's Office became involved in the process, and an operation was planned.
Within the scope of the investigation, contact was re-established with E.A. The family stated that they accepted the bribe offer and announced that 50,000 dollars would be given in advance. Thus, a meeting was arranged at a restaurant in Çekmeköy.
FLASH OPERATION BY THE POLICE
Security forces took their places at the designated restaurant with plainclothes teams. Police officers, who came disguised as customers, created secret audio and video recordings at the venue. In addition, a police officer acting as a 'businessperson' was placed next to the artist's relatives. The serial numbers of the money were recorded before the operation.
During the face-to-face bargaining, it was determined that E.A. had made multiple video calls with Judge O.Y. Following the lawyer's verbal statement confirming that he accepted the bribe, he was detained at the scene by teams from the Izmit Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch.
LAWYER IN PRISON, JUDGE SUSPENDED
E.A. accepted the accusations against him in his statement. Subsequently, the HSK, which investigated the incident, launched an investigation into Judge O.Y., who was at the center of the process, and decided to suspend him from duty.
