A claim to shake the agenda: The offer Akşener made to Yavaş in 2023 has emerged

Meral Akşener, the founding leader of the IYI Party, had left the Table of Six before the 2023 Presidential Elections after the table wanted to nominate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Following this crisis that occurred shortly before the elections, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu visited Akşener.

AKŞENER’S CRITICAL MEETING WITH YAVAŞ AND İMAMOĞLU

According to Burhan’s claim, Meral Akşener, who was the IYI Party leader at the time, held a private meeting with Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu during the days she left the Table of Six.

‘CANDIDACY’ OFFER TO YAVAŞ

According to what Burhan conveyed, Akşener, who did not look favorably upon the candidacy of CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, suggested that Mansur Yavaş, who appeared more advantageous in the polls, should be the presidential candidate. He shared the behind-the-scenes of the meeting as follows:

"On Sunday night, that is, one day before Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu’s candidacy was announced, Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş went to Meral Akşener’s house late at night. Akşener said that Mr. Kemal was behind in the polls, whereas Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu were ahead, and called on Mr. Mansur to 'be the presidential candidate'."

“I WILL LEAVE THE IYI PARTY TO YOU”

According to Burhan’s claim, when Mansur Yavaş remained hesitant in the face of this offer, Akşener brought forward a different proposal against the possibility of losing the election. Burhan described those moments as follows:

"When Mr. Mansur acted reserved, Meral Akşener said to him, 'Brother Mansur, come and be the presidential candidate. If you lose the election, I will leave the IYI Party leadership to you.' Akşener made such an offer to Yavaş."
