A mafia settling of scores? Rönesans Rezidans engineer Hüseyin Yalçın Coşkun found dead in Serbia

A new development has emerged regarding the Rönesans Rezidans, which collapsed in the Antakya district of Hatay during the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes on February 6, 2023, becoming a grave for 269 people. Hüseyin Yalçın Coşkun, the static project manager, civil engineer, site supervisor, and one of the partners of Antis Yapı, has been found dead in Serbia.

According to a report by Antakya Gazetesi, the cause of Coşkun's death has not yet been announced by official authorities. However, local sources suggest that Coşkun may have lost his life as a result of a mafia settling of scores. It has been learned that an investigation into the matter has been launched in Serbia.

HE WAS A FUGITIVE, WANTED WITH A RED NOTICE

Following the earthquakes, the Earthquake Crimes Investigation Bureau, established within the Hatay Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, had issued an arrest warrant in absentia for Hüseyin Yalçın Coşkun. A red notice was issued via Interpol at the request of the Ministry of Justice for Coşkun, who was determined to be abroad.

Before the earthquakes, the Rönesans Rezidans had been promoted with the slogan "A corner from paradise" and marketed with the promise of a luxury lifestyle. The building, which contained approximately 250 apartments and was estimated to house between 700 and 1,000 people, was leveled on February 6.

Among those who remained under the rubble were footballer Christian Atsu, technical director Taner Savut, volleyball player Cemal Kütahya, and referee Devrim Öztürk.

Another partner of the Rönesans Rezidans, Mehmet Yaşar Coşkun, was caught at Istanbul Airport on February 10, 2023, while attempting to flee to Montenegro, and was arrested on February 11. In his defense, he denied the charges, stating, "I do not know why the Rönesans Rezidans collapsed either." He had claimed that his trip abroad was planned before the earthquake.

Mustafa Dilek, a local journalist in Hatay, claimed in a social media post regarding the incident that Hüseyin Yalçın Coşkun was the victim of a mafia settling of scores.
