Akın Gürlek responds to the Saadettin Saran question: Will the operation expand?

Speaking on the program “Şimdi Konuşalım” (Let's Talk Now) aired on tv100, journalist Murat Kelkitlioğlu shared information he received from Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek with the public.

Kelkitlioğlu stated that he spoke with both Chief Prosecutor Gürlek and the prosecutor's office sources before appearing on the program, and made statements regarding the current status of the investigation.

“THE PROCESS IS ONGOING, THERE WILL BE NEW OPERATIONS”

Conveying Chief Prosecutor Akın Gürlek's assessments regarding the course of the investigation, Kelkitlioğlu shared the response given to the question, “Will there be new names, will the investigation grow?”

He reported that Gürlek responded to this question by saying, “Yes, there will be. We are specifically working on the individuals who provide [the substances]. They will be apprehended. They are being tracked, and our operations from this point on will be focused on these individuals.”

RESPONSE TO CLAIMS OF “BIGGER NAMES”

Addressing the claims circulating in the public sphere during the program, Kelkitlioğlu recalled that statements such as “There are much bigger names than Sadettin Saran” have been brought to the agenda on social media and in some television programs. Stating that he asked the prosecutor's office about these claims, Kelkitlioğlu conveyed the response he received with the following words:

“Do not deal with the perception operations being discussed on television and attempted to be spread on social media. Watch what we do; it is already visible.”

According to the information provided by Kelkitlioğlu, sources from the chief prosecutor's office emphasized that the investigation is proceeding not based on perceptions created in the public eye, but in line with the judicial procedures conducted and the findings obtained. It was stated that officials indicated the course of the process will become clearer with new operations to be carried out.

“COCAINE POSITIVE” FINDING IN HAIR SAMPLE

Information was also shared regarding Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran, who was included in the investigation within the scope of drug operations. According to the information provided, the examination of the hair sample taken from Saran resulted in a “cocaine positive” finding.

According to the statements made during the live broadcast, new detentions and operations are expected to come to the agenda in the later stages of the drug investigation.
