Following the passing of master artist Edip Akbayram, the ugly language used by Akit, known for its reactionary publications, drew significant backlash. Targeting the artist with the headline 'Ekrem's singer has died,' the newspaper brought up Akbayram's past remarks regarding religious sects.
The 75-year-old artist Edip Akbayram, who had been receiving treatment since January 4, has passed away due to multiple organ failure.
The artist Edip Akbayram (75), who was taken to the intensive care unit due to internal bleeding following a bout of pneumonia and had been receiving treatment at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital since January 4, passed away today at 19:30 due to multiple organ failure.
"UNFORTUNATELY, HE COULD NOT BE SAVED"
In a written statement issued by the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, it was stated: "One of our country's valuable artists, Edip Akbayram, has passed away despite all medical interventions at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for approximately two months. The most advanced level of care and treatment was provided to him by our medical teams, and despite all efforts, he unfortunately could not be saved. We wish God's mercy upon the deceased and extend our condolences to his family, loved ones, and the art community."
Following the passing of the 75-year-old master artist, Akit, known for its pro-government and reactionary publications, attacked Akbayram with ugly language.

In the report, Akbayram's past stance against religious sects was recalled, and the following remarks were included: "At an IMM concert held despite the terrorist attack at TUSAŞ, he said 'the degenerate' while stating that they would stand in the way of sects."
At the same time, their online news report included President Erdoğan's words, "An artist speaks through their art, they do not engage in sycophancy. These are mere drafts of artists," and Akbayram's response, "I considered being called a 'draft of an artist' an honor for myself."
The language used by Akit was met with backlash from broad segments of society.
