Merve Safa Likoğlu, daughter of Diyanet Affairs President Ali Erbaş, praised the 'Gassal' series, which had previously caused controversy with its promotional poster asking, 'Who will wash me when I die?'

In a post on her X account, Likoğlu addressed the citizens who criticized the 'Gassal' series as 'my son.'

Stating, 'You cannot film anything that doesn't contain profanity and sexuality, my son,' Likoğlu added, 'That is why you are trembling in fear that Gassal-type series will multiply and your throne will topple. Tremble, it is deserved.'

The tone used by Erbaş's daughter sparked a major debate on social media.

According to Sözcü, the post by Merve Safa Erbaş Likoğlu—who is the wife of Beykoz Mufti Muhammed Likoğlu and serves as a preacher in Beykoz—in which she addressed citizens as 'my son,' was met with a flood of backlash. 

Comments such as 'What kind of tone is this, these are all imitations, my son' were directed at Likoğlu. Erbaş later closed this message to comments.
