Assad's final days in Damascus revealed: He blamed Turkey and failed to find what he was looking for from Moscow!

Striking details have emerged regarding the final days of the Assad era in Syria. Kamel Saqr, the former director of the Syrian Presidential Media Office, made statements about the collapse process of Assad's government.

 Saqr stated that he was one of the last people to leave the presidential palace.

FAILED TO FIND WHAT HE WAS LOOKING FOR IN MOSCOW

While the jihadist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) captured Damascus on December 8, it was learned that Bashar al-Assad and his family fled to Moscow. 

Saqr said that Assad went to Moscow on November 26 to request assistance from Russian President Vladimir Putin. 

However, it was stated that Putin postponed meeting with Assad for two days, and Aleppo fell during this period.

Assad, who requested that Putin take steps to facilitate the arrival of aid from Iran into Syrian airspace and provide direct military support, did not receive a positive response to these requests. 

While it was noted that the fact that the meetings were not announced to the public took place under Putin's instructions, it was reported that the meetings ended in disappointment for Assad.

BLAMED TURKEY

According to Saqr's statements, after the occupation of Aleppo and Homs, Assad wanted to make a national address. However, the speech, for which preparations were completed, was never delivered.

The second paragraph of Assad's speech contained harsh criticisms directed at Turkey. 

Accusing Turkey of "trying to occupy Aleppo" and being "dishonest," Assad also failed to find the support he sought in communication with Ankara.

It was stated that Assad was left alone as the expected aid from Iran and Russia did not arrive, and that Ankara also refused to mediate through President Erdoğan. This situation paved the way for the opposition's advance on Damascus.

Assad's meeting on December 6 with Ali Larijani, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, also proved fruitless. Saqr expressed that the negative responses Assad received from Russia and Iran accelerated the collapse of the administration.
