Bad news: No visas for Turkish citizens again

The United States' (U.S.) decision to reduce visa quotas for Turkish citizens continues to cause serious problems in the visa application process.

Citing diplomatic tensions with Turkey, the U.S. suspended new visa applications indefinitely in October 2017; while it later resumed applications, it significantly reduced quotas.

The U.S., which previously provided long-term tourist visas, has shortened visa durations during this period while also making new application requirements increasingly difficult.

VISA APPOINTMENTS PUSHED TO 2027

Despite high demand, the U.S. has not made any improvements to appointment dates for B1-B2 visas for tourism, family visits, or academic purposes from Turkey.

According to the U.S. Consulate's website, the earliest appointments are being scheduled for December 2026.

When passport processing and visa evaluation times are also taken into account, a person applying today will be able to travel to the U.S. in 2027 at the earliest.

This situation causes grievances, particularly for individuals who do not receive federation support, such as individual athletes, academics, and journalists. It was stated that there has been no response yet from U.S. authorities regarding requests to increase quotas.
