Bargaining claim shaking Ankara corridors: What offer was made by the AKP, and what did Ali Babacan demand?
It is claimed that the ruling party made an offer to DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan regarding economic management. It is alleged that Babacan set conditions for the offer in question...
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with opposition leaders at the reception for the opening of the new legislative year of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) on October 1.
The photos taken at the opening, which the CHP protested and did not attend, were discussed on the political agenda for a long time. In particular, the fact that the DEVA Party and the Future Party, which entered the TBMM on CHP lists, appeared side-by-side with Erdoğan caused criticism.
Journalist Özlem Gürses brought up a striking claim regarding DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan.
Speaking on the program "Para Politika ve Hayat" (Money, Politics, and Life) which she hosts on Sözcü TV, Gürses relayed what is being discussed in Ankara's political corridors:
"Ali Babacan received a serious offer from the AK Party to be brought to the head of economic management. Babacan is considering this.
As far as I have heard, this is what is being discussed in the corridors: Babacan has requested not only the Ministry of Treasury but also the Ministry of Justice.
"If I come, I will return this way; one is not independent of the other, you cannot solve one without the other anyway," he reportedly said.
Will he return or not? That is for him to know; that is a separate matter for him.
But it seems to me that there is a search for a solution in the economy."
