Behind the Scenes: 8 names to change in the Cabinet, number of ministries to increase! Here are those whose positions are 'guaranteed'...
Public opinion researcher Mehmet Ali Kulat claimed during a live broadcast that 8 ministers in the Cabinet will be replaced and that the number of ministries will increase from 16 to 18 by splitting 2 existing ministries.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had signaled “change” after the defeat in the March 31 Local Elections.
While significant changes were made to the leadership team of the AKP, which completed its congress process last February, the expected Cabinet reshuffle did not take place.
Speaking on TGRT Haber, pollster Mehmet Ali Kulat claimed there would be changes in the Cabinet after June 3. Recalling that ministers in the Cabinet would qualify for retirement on June 3, Kulat claimed that 8 ministers would be replaced and 2 new ministries would be established.
Saying that “1 or 2 MPs are expected to become ministers,” Kulat also listed the names whose places in the Cabinet are guaranteed. Kulat’s remarks were as follows:
"The last week of May is very important. Next week, we will be discussing the new ministers President Erdoğan will appoint. It was expected that the ministers’ terms would expire. The term will expire on the 3rd of the month. Since the 3rd of the month coincides with the holiday, according to the information I have received, he will do it around July 14-15 before the Cabinet meeting to be held on the 17th. Immediately afterward, appointments to the senior bureaucracy will also be made. Work is also being carried out to re-establish the institution of undersecretariat."
"On Wednesday, there is an election for deputy group chair at the Turkish Grand National Assembly. This will also show the status of MPs who are likely to become ministers. 1 or 2 MPs are expected to become ministers. The rest will be names from outside. With 2 more ministries added to the existing 16, the Cabinet will rise to 18. It is being said that around 8 ministers will be changed, but 10 ministerial appointments will be made. Two ministries will be split. These will be the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is also being discussed that the number of vice presidencies will be increased to two."
"It is being said that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Environment Minister Murat Kurum and Cevdet Yılmaz will remain in the vice presidency. It would not be right for me to name the others. This is backstage information. The President has often wrong-footed people. Names may change at the last minute"
