Binali Yıldırım's son Erkam Yıldırım caused a scene at Istanbul Airport: Insulted customs officers! 'Do you know who my father is?'
Erkam Yıldırım, son of former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, caused a scene during a customs inspection at Istanbul Airport. Yıldırım, who allegedly insulted the customs officers wanting to search his 5 suitcases, gave his consent for the suitcases to be checked following the incident.
Erkam Yıldırım, son of former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, caused a major scene upon his arrival at Istanbul Airport following a trip approximately two weeks ago. Yıldırım began arguing with the officers on duty during a customs inspection regarding the 5 suitcases he was carrying.
When customs enforcement officers wanted to inspect the suitcases Yıldırım was carrying in accordance with regulations, Yıldırım reacted unexpectedly. According to allegations, Erkam Yıldırım insulted the officers, saying, "I am Binali Yıldırım's son, how can you treat me like this?"
Yıldırım's insults toward the officers, which included profanities, further escalated the tension at Istanbul Airport. Following the incident, a report was filed by the customs enforcement officers.
CONSENT GIVEN FOR LUGGAGE INSPECTION
Following the incident, the tension was reported to the deputy managers on duty at Istanbul Airport, and the situation ended with consent being given for the suitcases to be checked. It was reported that after the necessary inspections were carried out, Yıldırım left the airport with his suitcases without any issues.
The tension at Istanbul Airport was not limited to Erkam Yıldırım; it also involved another individual. The nephew of Mehmet Cengiz, Chairman of the Board of Cengiz Holding, one of the partners of IGA, the operator of Istanbul Airport, also requested that 15 boxes of porcelain items he was carrying on his private jet undergo customs inspection after arriving at the airport.
Customs enforcement officers stated that the boxes in question were subject to customs duties and that their documentation was incomplete, leading them to seize the items and move them to a warehouse.
According to allegations, Cengiz's nephew hurled severe insults at the customs officers and left the airport. However, the nephew returned about 2 hours later and left the airport after the 15 boxes of porcelain items were released. Customs enforcement officers also documented these events.
A statement regarding these allegations was issued by Cengiz Holding.
