Cabin crew member defects after Germany flight, saying 'Good luck in the asylum'
Enes Basmakcı, who traveled to Germany for the Sabiha Gökçen-Düsseldorf flight on January 19, did not join the return flight and announced on his social media account that he had defected.
Cabin crew member Enes Basmakçı announced that he had defected to Germany after the Istanbul-Düsseldorf flight, choosing not to return to Turkey.
In the message he left behind, Basmakçı expressed his feelings with the words, "You killed our hope. You finally succeeded, I am leaving now. Good luck in the asylum."
Basmakçı, who worked as a cabin crew member at Pegasus Airlines, did not return to the hotel where he was staying following the Istanbul-Düsseldorf flight.
The cabin crew member first shared a story about the incident on the X platform, and later on his Instagram account.
"You killed our hope. With your rhetoric and actions, the AK Party government has shown no respect for any segment of society. For years, you have worn us out with your pressures. You constantly divided people based on their religion, language, and preferences, and unfortunately, the public has come to resemble you.
There is now a constant atmosphere of violence, death, judgment, and exclusion in the country, especially against those with different appearances or beliefs. You finally succeeded in this. I am leaving now. Goodbye. Shame on those who caused me to experience this situation.
As for you, continue your discrimination and your unjust accusations against those who criticize the government or who do not think and act like you. You have not stopped judging people for their beliefs or preferences. Good luck in the asylum."
He then shared a selfie.
