Defne Samyeli reacts sharply to Fatih Altaylı's arrest! 'Sometimes being among those who go to jail...'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who was targeted by Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral, has been arrested after being detained on charges of threatening the President.

In a statement regarding Altaylı's detention, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated, "An ex officio investigation has been initiated against Fatih Altaylı for the crime of 'Threatening the President' due to his threatening remarks targeting our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a broadcast on his YouTube channel dated 20/06/2025, and the aforementioned individual has been apprehended and detained in accordance with the instructions given to the Istanbul Police Department."

The arrest warrant issued for Altaylı drew widespread reaction. Lawyer Ömer Teker reacted to Fatih Altaylı's arrest, saying, "Before he is even transferred to the lower court, without any notification to us, the referral articles and documents appear on the internet; we cannot even see them yet. There is nothing to say. We have seen once again that the rule of law has ended in this country. Fatih Bey will serve his time like a lion and come out."

Actress and singer Defne Samyeli had made a striking post on her Instagram account after Fatih Altaylı was detained.

In her post, reminding that Altaylı had been threatened, Samyeli stated, "They took Fatih Altaylı in for doing journalism. And they did it after openly threatening him beforehand. Because these are the times we live in. I want to believe that he will be released as soon as possible, but I cannot be sure. Again... Because these are the times we live in. There is a reality that everyone will be judged forever in the 'conscience' for the journalism they did or did not do, and for what they said or did not say. We stand behind Fatih."

Samyeli did not remain silent about the arrest warrant issued for Altaylı either. Making consecutive posts on her social media account, Samyeli first shared an image that read, "Fatih Altaylı is the voice of the people, he is not alone. Whether you share the same views or not, he is one of the last remaining principled journalists."

The famous actress then shared a post by Fatih Altaylı's wife, Hande Altaylı, which read, "Sometimes it is a thousand times better to be among those who go to prison than to be among those who send people to prison. Thank God!"
