Details emerge about the 17-year-old who murdered his family in Eyüpsultan

In Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, 17-year-old B.Y. shot and killed his mother Aysun Yenigün (32), his father Mehmet Yenigün (43), his sister Zilan Yenigün (12), and his grandmother Fatma İnce (71) in the house where they lived together, before fleeing. It was learned that B.Y., who was caught and taken into custody in Bursa where he had gone to hide at a friend's house, was a drug addict and had been in a state of mental breakdown for the last 2-3 months.

The incident occurred yesterday at around 22:45 on the 3rd floor of a 3-story duplex building on Derin Street in the Akşemsettin neighborhood. According to allegations, when Sevinç İnce (37) returned home from work, she found her brother Mehmet Yenigün in the hallway, her mother Fatma İnce, her sister-in-law Aysun Yenigün in other rooms, and her niece Zilan Yenigün on the upper floor, all lying on the ground covered in blood. Upon İnce's report, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

RELATIVES SUFFERED NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS

While medical teams determined during their examination that all 4 people had lost their lives after being shot with a handgun, the police took extensive security measures on the street. Relatives of the family who arrived after hearing about the massacre suffered nervous breakdowns at the scene. The lifeless bodies of the 4 individuals were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue by funeral vehicle following investigations at the scene.

CAUGHT IN BURSA

Expanding their work at the scene, the police reached the information that B.Y., the young child of the couple Mehmet and Aysun Yenigün, was also missing. Suspect B.Y., who was determined to be in Bursa during the investigations, was taken into custody and brought to Istanbul. It was learned that B.Y. confessed to committing the murders during his initial interrogation, while the extensive investigation launched into the incident is continuing in a multi-faceted manner.
