Details of the İmralı meeting emerge! What did Öcalan discuss with the DEM delegation?

DEM Party sources shared interesting details regarding the meeting with Öcalan on December 28.

"I HAVE PLANS"

According to the report by Ayşe Sayın on BBC Turkish, Öcalan did not allow the Imralı delegation to relay information from the outside and conveyed the view, "I have plans. Next time, I will listen to you."

Requesting that the delegation visit political parties and gather their opinions, Öcalan emphasized that he possesses the power and initiative to take steps toward ensuring peace.

Stating that Öcalan interpreted MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's call as a "historic opportunity and chance for Turkey and the government," party sources commented, "He expresses very clearly that this problem must be solved. He says that if this opportunity is missed, everyone will lose. In fact, what Bahçeli and Öcalan are saying in this sense is the same."

RIGHT TO HOPE

While calling on the PKK to lay down arms on October 22, 2024, Bahçeli had also invited Öcalan to speak in parliament by utilizing the "right to hope."

During the meeting, Öcalan proposed legal regulations aimed at ensuring the safety of those playing a role in the process.

According to what DEM Party members relayed, Öcalan did not put this issue forward as a "matter of bargaining, but emphasized that it is a necessity for ensuring social acceptance."

It was stated that the Imralı delegation also conveyed this view to representatives of the ruling party during their visits.

'LET IMPRISONED POLITICIANS ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROCESS'

Sending a message to the DEM Party that the process should be explained to the public, Öcalan also requested that imprisoned politicians contribute to the process.

REQUESTED HIS MESSAGES BE CONVEYED

In this context, he mentioned the names of former HDP Co-Chairs Figen Yüksekdağ, Selahattin Demirtaş, and former deputy Leyla Güven, requesting that the imprisoned politicians be visited and his messages be conveyed to them.

Öcalan pointed out that in addition to his lawyers and family, a basis for communication with the organization must also be provided in order to convey his messages in the coming periods of the process.

CALL TO THE CHP

Öcalan emphasized that the CHP should also contribute to the process. Reminding that the CHP is the founding party of the Republic of Turkey, he commented, "The CHP should also take a role in the democratization of the Republic."
