Detained after claiming 'a trustee will be appointed to the CHP': ROK's confession: 'I can't handle this job'

Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, who was detained and faced an investigation due to his social media post claiming that "a trustee would be appointed to the CHP," has shared his assessments regarding the criticisms directed at him and the process he went through.

Speaking on a program he attended, Kütahyalı said, "I cannot handle reporting and journalism. Even if I knew the best information, I would still not practice journalism."

“IT WAS WRONG, I RETRACTED IT MYSELF”

Responding to the intense reactions following his post, Kütahyalı admitted that his claim was completely wrong. Stating, "What I wrote was foolish from start to finish. When I realized it, I corrected it immediately. I am not a journalist anyway, I am a commentator," Kütahyalı used the following expressions regarding his post:

“I will no longer practice journalism. I gather a lot of information, I meet with many people, but I do not have a culture of news reporting. I don't know what a double-check is. There was an error in the post I made, and I corrected it myself. I will not practice journalism with this much information; I have made that decision.”

“MY PROSECUTION IS NOT WRONG”

Kütahyalı also stated that the judicial process initiated against him due to his post was correct. Regarding his detention on charges of "spreading misleading information to the public," he said, "My prosecution is not wrong. Even if it was unintentional, even if it was a mistake, it falls under that article. The statements by Fahrettin Altun and the Minister of Justice are correct.”

“I AM ONE OF THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CLIMATE”

Responding to criticisms, Kütahyalı said that he also had a share in the current state of the media in Turkey. Kütahyalı said, "I have also contributed to the creation of this environment that has become an open-air asylum. I also fed this climate. I cannot play the victim.”

Kütahyalı continued his words as follows:

“I created people in the Turkish media whom I played like puppets. Those men effectively lost their mental health. The reason they ended up like this is me. That is why I cannot come out now and say, ‘I am a victim’; that would be dishonorable.”
