President Erdoğan held a meeting with the DEM Party's Imralı delegation in Beştepe on April 10. Sırrı Süreyya Önder, one of the experienced politicians of the time, was also part of this delegation. President Erdoğan had received the DEM Party's Imralı delegation in Beştepe on Thursday, April 10. The meeting, which lasted one hour and 25 minutes, was represented by Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly and Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Van MP Pervin Buldan.

In a written statement issued by the DEM Party, it was stated that the meeting took place in an "extremely positive, constructive, productive, and hopeful atmosphere for the future."

The statement included the words, "It was expressed that a period without violence and conflict, where the democratic and political sphere is strengthened, is of vital importance for our country, our citizens, and our region."

While the process was ongoing, Sırrı Süreyya Önder fell ill, was hospitalized, and passed away on May 3.
