The cancellation of the diplomas was based on the grounds of "non-existence" and "obvious error." Istanbul University used the terms "non-existence" and "obvious error" as the justification for the cancellation of the diplomas in question. Following the invalidation of the diplomas, the Dean of the Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration, Ahmet Köse, resigned from his position.

Following the resignation of Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration Dean Ahmet Köse, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Levent Şahin was appointed as the acting dean. This development has brought changes within the university and administrative gaps to the agenda.

According to the report by Sabah newspaper, the Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration will initiate the process of deleting the canceled diplomas from the university's database.
