Do Covid-19 vaccines trigger heart attacks? The most comprehensive study on the subject has been conducted: Data from 46 million people examined

The claims that "Covid-19 vaccines increase heart attacks," which have been frequently discussed in the public sphere recently, have been debunked by the results of a massive study conducted in the UK. In the study, which examined data from 46 million people, it was determined that deaths linked to cardiovascular diseases were lower in individuals who received the Covid-19 vaccine.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sargın, President of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery and a physician at the Dr. Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, also made important statements on the subject. Sargın stated that there is no scientific basis for the rumors that vaccines increase heart diseases.

RESPONSE TO CLAIMS OF 'INCREASED HEART ATTACKS IN YOUNG PEOPLE'

Evaluating the recent claims that "heart attack cases have increased among young people," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sargın emphasized that there is no scientific data to support this situation.

Stating that "we do not have sufficient data to suggest a seriously alarming increase in young people compared to 10 years ago," Sargın noted that cases have become more visible today due to higher levels of awareness and increased communication opportunities. He pointed out that this does not actually mean the number of heart attack cases has increased.

Expressing that the young population between the ages of 25-45 has also increased in Turkey, Sargın pointed out that one in every three people is in this age group, noting that there is naturally an increase in the absolute number of cases seen in this age range.

'HEART DISEASE DEATHS CANNOT BE LINKED TO COVID-19'

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sargın also stated that it is not possible to directly link deaths from cardiovascular diseases to Covid-19. Sharing the results of the comprehensive study conducted on 46 million people in the UK, Sargın reported that it was determined that death rates linked to cardiovascular diseases were lower in individuals who received the Covid-19 vaccine compared to those who did not.

Stating that longer-term results of this study will be announced in the future, Sargın reiterated that there is no scientific basis for the rumors that Covid-19 vaccines harm heart health.

Referring to the study conducted in the UK, Sargın stated that more positive results were obtained in vaccinated individuals regarding parameters for both clot formation and heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases.

"All parameters show better results in the vaccinated group. It is not right to create an anti-vaccine perception with rumors," Sargın said, emphasizing that scientific data clearly shows that vaccines do not create any negative effects in terms of heart health.

SIMILAR STUDIES ARE BEING CONDUCTED IN TURKEY

On the other hand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sargın reported that research similar to the study in the UK is being conducted in Turkey, but the results of these studies have not yet been published. Similar data from Turkey is expected to be shared in the near future.
