Erdoğan, İmamoğlu, Yavaş, and Özel compete in latest poll! Participants were also asked about the CHP candidate

The political scene has been experiencing turbulent days since the evening of March 18. On the evening of March 18, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, whose university diploma was cancelled, was detained in a dawn operation a day later and was sent to Silivri Prison on March 23 after being arrested on corruption charges.

While the CHP has launched a nationwide signature campaign for İmamoğlu and early elections, public opinion research companies continue their polling efforts.

Finally, the results of a public opinion survey conducted by ASAL Research in March with 2,000 people nationwide have emerged. In the poll, participants were asked the questions, "Who would you like to see as the CHP candidate?" and "Who would you like to be president?"

WHO SHOULD BE THE CHP CANDIDATE?

The responses to the question, "In your opinion, which of the names I will read below should be the CHP's presidential candidate?" reveal the preferences for the CHP's presidential candidacy.

In this context, while Mansur Yavaş stands out with 29.2% support, he is followed by Ekrem İmamoğlu with 27.0%. While Özgür Özel received 7.5% support, 4.0% prefer another candidate. Significantly, while 22.6% of participants said they have no opinion/no answer to this question, 9.7% selected the "none" option.

EKREM İMAMOĞLU IS ON THE RISE

A downward trend is observed in the support for Mansur Yavaş, who is the most popular candidate for the CHP in the polls. Support, which was 36.5% in August 2024, fell to 29.2% in March 2025. However, Yavaş has the highest average support at 34.4%. Ekrem İmamoğlu's support shows fluctuations. His support, which was 20.8% in August 2024, rose to 27.1% in December 2024, then experienced a decline, and rose again to 27.0% in March 2025. His average support is 23.5%.

THIRD HIGHEST VOTE: NO OPINION

The "No opinion/No answer" option remains at a quite high rate (25.8% average), which indicates the existence of a significant undecided voter base. There is a clear upward trend in the rate of those saying "none": while it was 2.3% in August 2024, it rose to 9.7% in March 2025. This may indicate that voters' dissatisfaction with the current candidates is increasing.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S RATE IS INCREASING

Özgür Özel's support fluctuates between 4.0% and 8.5% and remains at an average level of 6.3%. In March, the rate rose to 7.5%.

In general, while Mansur Yavaş is clearly in the lead, a downward trend in his support is observed, while a fluctuating upward trend is observed in İmamoğlu's support. Furthermore, the increase in those saying "none" and the high undecided rate may suggest dissatisfaction or uncertainty within the CHP regarding the candidate.

ERDOĞAN IS IN FIRST PLACE

In the question, "If the presidential election were held this Sunday, which of the names I will read below would you like to see as President?", participants chose President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with 31.2% support.

Erdoğan's closest rival was Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş with 25.5%.

Ekrem İmamoğlu ranked 3rd with 22.0%.

Among other candidates, CHP Leader Özgür Özel received 4.3% support.

5.2% of participants prefer "someone else." Remarkably, 11.8% of those who participated in the poll selected the no opinion/no answer/none option.
