Execution footage of HTS Justice Minister Elvasi emerges

Footage of Shadi Elvasi, who was appointed as Justice Minister in Al-Shara's interim government, showing his actions while HTS was still known as the 'Al-Nusra Front', is circulating on social media.

In the footage, which is stated to have been filmed in 2015, Elvasi is seen executing two women kneeling on the ground by shooting them in the head with a handgun.

HE HAS CARRIED OUT SIMILAR EXECUTIONS BEFORE

Local sources state that Elvasi has carried out similar executions in the past. It was noted that Elvasi, who served as a judge in regions governed by Sharia throughout the Syrian Civil War that began in 2011, joined a cadre of judges in Aleppo.

TERRIFYING STATEMENTS

In a recent interview, Elvasi, who has begun serving as the Justice Minister appointed by HTS, responded to the question "Should the Christian minority pay the jizya tax?" by saying, "Syria is a country where Muslims rule at a rate of 90 percent. Muslims decide this."

On the other hand, it was reported that Elvasi 'wants only men to be present in courts.'

He stated that women would not be allowed to serve as judges, lawyers, or prosecutors in courts.

EU officials, who state that the necessary groundwork must be prepared for an inclusive, democratic system to be possible in Syria, did not comment on these statements.
