While the investigation was ongoing, pro-government media had claimed that Tunç Soyer was detained based on Cemil Tugay's allegations. However, Tugay had vehemently denied the claims. Famous journalist Deniz Zeyrek made a striking analysis regarding the recent events.

Zeyrek made the claim about Tugay, saying, "Look, you will see soon. I claim that Cemil Tugay will soon be like Lütfü Savaş. I wouldn't be surprised if he switches to another party or something."

"The corruption operation in İzmir is already strange in itself! When I spoke about İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, the people of İzmir were reacting to me. There you go! I think this is Cemil Tugay's work. 'Oh, sir, we didn't write that letter, they started it first...' You are complaining about the previous mayor everywhere. The İzmir Provincial Chair has been detained again in a case where he was acquitted! I mean, Özgür Özel also had a rift with Tunç Soyer because they faced each other during that congress, but he displayed a very honorable stance. He clearly stated that he would stand behind Tunç Soyer, saying he would not sell out his brothers. I will really say it one more time: Cemil Tugay will not be any different from Lütfü Savaş, look, you will see soon. I claim that Cemil Tugay will soon be like Lütfü Savaş. I wouldn't be surprised if he switches to another party or something. He might leave the CHP and finish his mayoral term as an independent. He could also do it by switching to another party."

ARREST REQUEST HAD BEEN FILED

Following the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), an investigation was launched into the CHP-run İzmir Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of 'corruption' allegations. In this investigation, Tunç Soyer and 136 people accompanying him were detained. Today, 99 people, including Tunç Soyer, were referred to the judgeship with a request for arrest.
